Welcome to my blog! This has been a dream of mine for years and I’m excited to finally begin this new journey. My goal is to “Inspire you to live your best life”! My background is Interior Design and for the past four years I have owned “iheartDesign Company”. In January 2016 we decided to buy and renovate a farmhouse in the country (more on that story soon) and The Morris Manor was born.
At the time we bought the farmhouse we were living in a large (builders grade) home in a great neighborhood about 45 minutes away. As you can imagine managing the business, kids, wife responsibilities, and the reno, etc….. it quickly became exhausting! This past summer through extenuating circumstances I made the choice to close my business and invest 100% to my family and the farmhouse. I do plan to open a boutique one day once my kids are older but for now its lots of projects and snuggles!
Our previous home was 2,600 sq. ft. and brand new with a two car garage. The farmhouse is 2,200 sq.ft. with no garage. We downsized a family of 5 in order to UP-size our lifestyle. We lived in that home for 7 years and have many great memories. Sure, there have been lots of sacrifices along the way but we are a better family because of it. We learned that life isn’t about the status quo and having the best. That being slave to a mortgage or career can strip you of joy and take away the passion for creativity. My income was necessary to survive in our “big new” home. Don’t get me wrong I loved our home but to everything there is a season and this is our season for new beginnings.
This farmhouse has brought new life to our family. My creative juices are overflowing! I’d like to consider myself the queen of DIY…and controlled chaos. Here is some of what I have planned for you. I hope you are ready to be inspired!
- How to paint fabric
- How to add custom trim to window treatments
- Before and After photos of the farmhouse
- Room makeovers
- How to mix patterns in decorating
- Spiritual posts to keep it real
- How to create high style on a DIY budget
- And more
Thank you for stopping by!
Love, Katrina

Came across your new blog via Fox Hollow Blog. Beautiful. You guys have done an amazing job. I too just purchased a 106 year old house in Nebraska. Probably at one time was a farm house but for too many years it was a college rental. I am in the process of rehabbing as much as I can by myself. I love your open shelves in the kitchen. Can you tell me where you got them? I, too, will be now happily “stalking” your reno ideas. Keep up the great work and success on your new blogging venture. Right now I will remain a stalker.

Thank you Deborah! Congrats on your rehabbing adventure. I sold the brackets at my shop. I’m searching for some to just like it and will share as soon as I find them. The actual shelves are 2 X10’s I just beat it up and stained to look reclaimed.

Hoping to get inspired and borrow some ideas to refurbish our (long neglected and now quite shabby) home of 35 years. I love your style! Best of luck with your new blog venture.
